cross posted from mud CA-Southern California LandCruisers:
Hi all LC (and any other rig) fan girls/boys: THINKING a post xmas (me....12/25 to ?) trip out top Picacho State Rec Area (Imperial National Wildlife Refuge). This would be a base camp operation. Picacho State Recreation Area - (4S Site) - https://dbw.parks.ca.gov/BoatingFacilities/f/1443
The spot I am aiming for is 4s river river/beach front spot. This is 200 miles of highway (from dana point) to Yuma (top off gas there), then another 30+ state maintained dirt road to the spot.
This is most excellent for water stuff (me....paddleboard & sea kayak), hiking, beach games (volley ball, Croquet, etc.), mountain biking, etc. There is an alterntive exit route (indian pass road which requires some 4x4 (may be subaru friendly)). Also, Black mountain offers some 4x4 challenge (day run, this would more than likely require extra gas) ( https://www.gaiagps.com/map/?loc=13.0/-114.8310/33.0436 ).
'course, this being winter, rain depandant (if rain, would more than likely be very muddy).
I'm cross posting to San Diego cruiser club.
That's not my story and I'm not stickin to it
