I think I picked the correct size!:cool::cheers:

I've been wanting to replace those Continental Conticrap tires that were on the Cruiser for quite sometime now. I finally did it today. I've been contemplating whether to get the 265/75/16 or 285's in the Nitto Terra Grappler AT. I went ahead and got the 285's for the Cruiser since I have the smaller size for my 4Runner. Also, I didn't want the truck to look funny once a lift eventually gets installed. The truck definitely sits taller than before. Here are some "before" and "after" pics.

SOLD!, That's the tire I've been researching, vs. BFG AT's, I think Nitto is getting my business.

Nice looking tire, thanks for the pics.

i love the avatars these days... this is great!

here are the nittos in a 315...

they are a nice alternative to the BFG and they are indeed MUCH better in the rain.

I think you'll like them. I've had TG's on for about a year and half, with 6K miles. I've had them on trails, sand, snow and ice and they do well. Of course any tire seems to get really good traction when you put it on a cruiser.

mine (18" 285s) are very square so a lot of road contact.

my wife thinks she lost 50 miles per tank with them over the previous street tires, though...

I have 295's on my LX. I love the tires. I have about 16000 miles on them and they are still going strong.

When they were 1st installed, we had some touble getting them to balance. Finally got it corrected. But now, one tire has developed some cupping. I think maybe i wasn't anal enough about rotating them. I'm also thinking that's a sign of worn out shocks.

Guess it's time for the lift!!!!!;)

Looks better now let us know how you like them.

I have loved them since I put a set on my 4Runner, that's why I installed them on the Cruiser.

I ran 285 Duelers on my 4Runner prior to the Nittos, and I was not impressed. From now on, I'll only install Nittos on my trucks. You can't beat the price for the tire you get.

Here is a photo of the tread pattern. These were taken when they were 1st installed on the 4Runner.

I wish they would make them in 37's..still can't understand why they don't.
airlaird

People who buy 37's based on trail requirements typically buy a much more aggressive tire - if an AT is enough tire you don't really need 37's. I doubt they could sell enough to make money.

Excellent choice! I like my 295's so much I put 33's on my truck.

If they came in 37-12.5/16 I would have them on my junk. I am very happy with the 295's, provide plenty of grip in the terrain that I wheel in and ride very well, just need more height, clearance.

but if you have your truck set up properly so it runs 37's there's no reason to waste perfectly good m/t's or otherwise aggressive trail tires pounding pavement - hence the need for a good set of 37" AT's.

enought hi-jack though, the Nitto's are nice and look a whole lot like the Toyo Open Country A/T. Which come in a 355/70R17 btw ;)
