Thermostat Up Side Down

To all cruiser owners with heating problems check to make sure that the thermostat is installaled the correct direction. It fits really well the up side down, and the engine won't heat up.

Even with the thermostat properly installed, my '76 FJ40 was an icebox. The BJ70 warms up nicely. What are you driving, coldinAlaska?

i have a 60...its also an icebox but my wife drives it. I overhauled last winter and had one of my buddies do the head. when I got it back it had been so long I guess I didn't even think of what direction to install the thermo. It fit great up-side down so I figured I was good but finally figured it out after my wife threatened fire to it if I didn't get it at least better. Then same day as I finally had heat the blower fan slipped on its shaft and melted down. Another fun hunt for just the fan and not the motor. gotta love these rigs!

Don't forget to replace/install all of the thermo gaskets. Otherwise it'll stay too cold in the winter and overheat in the summer.

The first time i switched mine out it as upside down! Mines have overheating probs all along
