Have a question about the 200's alarm system. Are you able to lock the doors and set the alarm with the engine running?? Have had a BMW X5 and previous to that a LX 470 and now thinking about going to the Land Cruiser. I know most people think you shouldn't leave a pet in the car when going into a store etc., but we have for years when we can observe the vehicle from inside the store or restaurant. We leave the engine running with the A/C on and the vehicle locked. Can do this with the x5 but wondered if it works in the 200?? Would appreciate any feedback.

Haven't specifically tried what your saying, but you can use the remote start and the doors stay locked. Essentially, gets you what you want...Car running, AC on, doors locked.

Yes you can remote start if you have that feature from Toyota and the doors stay locked obviously.

One major gripe I have is exactly what you are saying. You cannot lock the doors from the outside if the car is running.

Yes you can. Standing outside the vehicle while the car is running and the window is down, lock the doors then hit the auto window up button. Problem solved.

Also the remote start kills the engine after about 10 min.

Can you then press unlock? Didn't think the remote worked at all after the ignition was started...

yes you can keep the car running and locked, by using the actual key and locking it from the out side if the car ;)

You are right. The remote won't unlock it. The smart key has had some quarks I'm not to fond of. This being one of them. I wonder if the dealership can change these things in the user preferences?

Nope... :(
