Oh I bet, I understand the weight and tires. Just a little razzing, bet it will cruise very nicely. I can hum along at 70 pretty good, except for the noise, and any hill just kills me. My FJ60 just doesn't get knocked down as bad on a grade, I think the torque band must have been wider on the later 2F versus the F155. The taller tires hurt me some too, but it made for a nice rubber overdrive, again on flat ground, but I have not seen any fuel savings, infact lost some MPG with taller heavier tires.

Does the Sniper feel linear? I would assume so, with a carb you always have the little lull and kick at the secondary initiation. My Holley just would dump it in, very snappy but would eventually wind out, jetting was real picky on it. My T100 is very linear in its revs with the multiport, at least it was, the miles and time seem to be coming on as some hesitation, probably needs injectors cleaned.

Be interesting to see the mileage. With my Holley 2barrel, I always got 12-14 MPG at the most. When jetted richer it ran hotter but got 10 MPG. Went to a frankenstiened 2F carb, was getting upwards of 16 MPG, with stock sized tires. Went to larger tires and a Trollhole carb, and now a FJ60 carb and only getting 13 consistently. Speedo is calibarted for tires, so these are good numbers over 20 years of ownership.

Yes. The linear throttle on both of my EFI systems is a huge plus.

My bone stock (with new motor and JimC carb) on 235/85-16 gets the best mileage of the group. About 15. It will also easily go 80 with help of the rubber overdrive.

My AFI 60 gets about 11.4-12

Sometime this weekend I’ll try to get some drag races versus my FJ60.

Hell my 40 will do 70 with ease, 80? Nah, I don't feel like dying.

This was towing my M416 loaded up on the way to the Crawl

I did that in neutral on the big grade on I70 at Mack CO just to give my ears a rest after pulling the 77 StarCraft tent trailer to Moab and back in 2016. Glad it was a straight run with a straight runout, wife was asleep too, she would not have like it. We were managing 70 pretty good on the flat parts of interstate. Tent trailer and gear for CruiseMoab was at about 1800 pounds probably. Trailer brakes were nice.

Ammeter is broken. Or you had the stereo turned up to infinite.

Yeah. SOA changes everything.

Only gauge that works in Patina cluster is the fuel and speedo.

Back on subject.

I’ll be sending The Warthog away for a few weeks on Sunday with @nvrlose54 at Shaw Fab for a laundry list of fab work.

He will get the first long range ride on the new drivetrain but I plan on shaking it down good before he heads out Sunday from the CottonLand Campout.

I sure hate to lose it so soon after getting it running but Project Patina needs space in the shop for some work.

Next level!

Shakedown run went great. As you can see I thrashed it pretty good. We did about a 100 mile backroad loop with rough gravel. Twisting turns and some good straight aways.

I sent it home with @nvrlose54 at Shaw Fab for the new shock/power steering mounts and some other goodies like skid plates and slider bars.

The warthog is will be steering smooth as butter soon!

The Warthog has been away for a week. It’s been a productive week so far.

Justin was able to take his hot wife and sleepy kid to dinner.

He was also able to take it to work one day.

He also bought another Pig and traded a $300 pickup for this Toyota.

The arrow depicts the direction he needs to go with the Warthog and to knock off all these distractions.
