Big day. So many thanks to Cam for getting up at 5 am and bringing the motor.

Jerry for driving 2 hours up.

Noel for giving up your one day off for the cause.

We got started in earnest about 9:30 and the new paint had burned off the motor by 4:30

Everything went pretty smooth. I pulled the motor with the bumper on but it was a bit of a struggle to get it all back in that way. Luckily we had 7 hands to get it done.

When we fired it up it was smooth as silk. Cam built a winner.

The only problem is the throttle cable is jacked up so it will be next week before I get another one to work with so I can drive it.

Adding the leafs in the back was money. It sits perfect now.

It has about 45 gallons of gas. All the tools I usually pack.

I’m going to try to rig up a throttle tomorrow. I really really want to drive it......

Fantastic

Making the rest of us look like bums.

Lots of firsts today.

First trip out with the new Corbeau Moab seats. Great seats. Easy easy to get in and out now. Not as comfy as the suspension seats but if they were a 10, these are an 8 and the bench seat was a 2. Thanks @Cruiser Corps for the hookup on this setup

First trip out with the truck the Maxxis Razr tires. These things are big. Add them and the weight of the fuel and I’m feeling it in the brakes. They are louder than my KM3s already with just 100 miles (versus 8,000) however, they are HUGE compared to the 33x10.50 KM3. I already knew they were 10# heavier but they are a FULL 2” taller. Same PSI. 1” wider rim on the Razr

Yep. These are not 31’s even though they measure out as such

These are 32.5” mounted at 32 psi

Solid info on those tires, I've been waiting to hear what your initial response was going to be on the Maxxis. I'm about to spring for new tires for my 40.

The KO2's I put on my truck are awesome but they measured about an inch or more less than the bald Nittos that I had on my truck. I didn't want to have the same experience with them on my 40.

Only made about 60 miles today because I sat around and shot the s*** with a buddy for a while.

This truck runs and drives amazingly well for so few miles on the Sniper. I can’t wait until it has learned more.

I easily got it to 80 at 3000rpm. The speedo is dead on balls accurate which is crazy. 83 with a headwind was about all it had.

I’m betting with the 235/85-16s from my 40
It would easily cruise at 90-95.

The engine bay is beautiful and clean. I love how it turned out.

Sorted out the interior this morning. All the mats are in. Cab is really sealed nicely. The ceramic coated header really knocked the floor temps back yesterday. It will be even better with the OEM Mat and generic mats on top.

Sniper monitor is hard mounted with a cell phone mount. Mechanical oil pressure with copper tube. Line lock switch.

Front and rear seats blend pretty well color wise. The pig still looks nasty inside. Don’t fret.

Now I just need to load it down and go on a trip.

I decided to go ahead and install the front Iron Man Pro shocks.

Passenger side bolted right up. The fronts (early FJ60) are perfect length. More than enough compression and droop for this suspension. The huge upper washer just fits inside the factory shock mount. You can’t use the hard dust cover but they offer the rubber accordion style. I will run without. I don’t like the looks of the old accordion rubber ones.

You can see the massive shaft mounted bump stop these have. They also have one inside in case you extend them too far.

The drivers side shock mount is integrated in with the steering box mount. Also the drag link Is real close to the OME shock so I figured it would hit the much larger Pro.

It fit! It’s close and I would not want to do much heavy off roading but that whole mount is about to get rebuilt for my Power Steering box.

I took it for a drive with all 4 Pros and crossed the inactive RR track Crossing on a smaller road south of my shop. This Crossing is BRUTAL and yesterday I dod
It with just the rear Pros installed and it almost broke my back. Today with all 4 it was smooth as silk

To make the drivers side fit I had to shape the top bushing to fit into the shock mount.

I drove it through my ditch to check clearances and the drivers shock just touches the drag link at full stuff. Again, that will soon be addressed by Shaw Fab

I’m super happy with the suspension now for this heavy ass Pig. Flex is good. Ride is good. Sits nice and level.

Dude...80 in a PIG, love it. Faster than I've pushed my new rebuilt engine in the BJ74. 75 is as fast as I've gone.

Final project for the day. Installed a new set of seatbelts. @scrapdaddy did all the math fit these. All I had to do was order the parts.

The B pillar mounts are just held on with self tappers. I’ll weld them in tomorrow.

I have P.E. pig envy!

Made a run for some fresh oil. Being the cam and head have already had a workout on version 1 I’m ready to put some fresh juice in the 4.4 and a sweet large filter via @beno

So far I am loving the Sniper versus the AFI.

The throttle response. The startup. Also the way the throttle falls off like a carburetor when you let off. The AFI is slow to respond and slowly idles Down. Hard to explain but it’s nice.

Mine is still learning obviously

Nolan, please tell us you have more than sheet metal screws holding that seat belt anchor to the body! I hope a reinforcement plate and nutserts at the least. those screws will pull right out.

I’m welding the plate in this afternoon. That was just for getting it located.

83 with a headwind? How big a wind are we talking about here? Unless I'm on a grade I can wind out my 1F FJ40 all the way to redline, any gear, running 235/85R16. Was it gasping or running out of fuel? Granted, you don't want to flog a new engine like that, but I was figuring on flat ground this engine would wind all the way out past 4K easily. My 1F is still stock compression, but has the Chevy stainless valves and small overbore. When I had my header on it and Holley carb it would scream down the highway. Offroad just sucked so bad I went back to stock manifolds and an FJ60 carb and vac adv. dist. Of course running a 40 over 80 some is pretty scary too, and my engine was not purposely balanced, so it has a pretty wicked vibe at redline between shifts. I keep hoping it will die so I swap up to the late 2F and have some better hill pulling power like my FJ60 but it will probably chug on forever. I've thought about a carbed 3F too, would pair well with the H41 transmission I'm running, just can't hang in the lower 3rd gear like you can with an H42, kind of annoying on mountain passes.

All my F powered Cruisers (even the ancient F135) will go 80.

Yeah, that was a pretty good headwind with no run up in 4th. Once I break it in more I expect I can get another 10 mph out of it. I’ll update you.

Keep in mind though, these tires are way bigger than 235/85, height. Weight. Width.

I can feel them.

Also, the Pig is phat. Lots of weight here. 40+ gallons of gas. Tools. Winch. It’s heavy. This motor in my 40 would be really amazing.
