so I just checked the levels on the TC and gearbox and of course the gearbox was way overfilled, and the transfer underfilled. i have not yet drained them for i'm waiting for my drainback kit. don't know how long transfer was running with next to no fluid.

my question is what type gear oil (Brand and viscosity) should i been using. My gear box and transfer case have always been a little noisy though they've always shifted fine. i know toyota says to use 90wt GL5. i'm hoping to hear from folks who's gearbox and transfer case are a bit noisy and roary, but have found the right brand and viscosity to protect a little better and maybe even quiet thing down a bit. i know eventually my gearbox and transfer will have to be rebuilt, but i'm hoping to prolog this a bit with the best gear oil out there.

any one find products like Redline, Swepco, Royal Purple, any better at quieting things down.

thanks in advance for any replies.

I put some of that lucas tranny treatment in mine and it took the rattle and grind away after about 100km. It shifts way smoother now too. I would recommend it to anyone with the same problems.
