Date: 04/12/2011 BLUERIBBON COALITION ACTION ALERT!

THE RECREATIONAL TRAILS PROGRAM NEEDS YOUR HELP!

Dear BRC Action Alert Subscriber,

U.S. Representatives Tom Petri (R-WI) and Mike Michaud (D-ME) released a Dear Colleague letter asking members of the House of Representatives to sign a letter to the leadership of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee (T&I) in support of the Recreational Trails Program (RTP). You can read their Dear Colleague request and the planned letter to the T&I leadership HERE.

The RTP is a Federal Highway Administration (FHWA)-administered program, first created in the Intermodal Surface Transportation Efficiency Act (ISTEA) in 1991 and operated through state trail programs with the active involvement of diverse trail interests through state trail advisory councils.
The program is self-funded through taxes from fuel used in off-highway recreational vehicles.

The deadline to collect signatures is April 14, 2011. This extremely urgent matter requires Immediate Action. BRC is encouraging all our members and supporters to contact their Representative and ask them to sign on to the letter. The fastest way to reach your Member of Congress is to pick up the phone and call them. You can find contact information for your Representatives at our Rapid Response Center, simply enter your zip code and follow the links.

As always, if you have any questions or comments.

Thanks in advance for your involvement,
Ric Foster
