First of all I apologize for not being around here too much lately.

At this time, the proposed club has no web developement and nothing secured what so ever for a web page. This never happened. Good thing is the club spent 0 money on this.

I think (for what it is worth) we are at a point of starting over.

My position on this is we vote on a new name (I believe the majority of people who voted on this name are no longer interested in this club), and use this site for this year and move on.

I am not set on any "base" location, as this should probably be dictated by active members.

Please chime in with any constructive comments, ideas, etc.

Sincerely,

Karl Walters

Hey Guys,

i agree with karl we need to form up something official. Mud is a good spring board to progress from. I know there is quite a few guys up around akron and they are the most enthusiastic i have seen in the last few years we need to set up a few locations i would think so travel time is fair for every one. We Still have MOLC funds at our disposal for certain items if need be. I think it would be a good idea to try to form a roster so we are TLCA recognized.

So, I assume that Mark's role has diminished on this front as of late? I haven't seen him on the boards in ages and I thought he was supposed to contact me when him and his wife came to Kent to see the Samples...

Anyway, here in Akron, you got at least four rigs:

Tim Harris (aka: Landwagon): FJ60/Taco
Kirk McCauley (aka: Kirk): FZJ80...soon to be V8J80 (once we get rolling on his LT-1 swap--waiting on Advance Adapters)
Kevin (aka: purerockfurry): 4Runner/Taco
Onur Azeri (aka: Beno): FZJ80

I know that Matt (aka: MJM) in Chardon (east side of Cleveland) has the cherry 40 series, and he just got a UZJ100 too. THough I know that he owns his own business and he is really busy with that most of the time.

We've got a few other folks too here and there (Tim's brother Steve with a Mini in the Lima area), Dianna in Cleveland too (though I've never met her, and I did recall her trying to get rid of her 40 on the MUD recently).

That said, we are enthusiastic as hell and we have a lot of wrenching planned for the winter--both on Kirk's rig and on Tim's...I have small stuff that I am going to do here and there...upper rear control arms, SS brake lines, rear spring packers, interior Durabak, etc.

I think trying to get together early in the springtime will probably suit every one's interest best in terms of traveling. The guys down South seem to have their crap together...

Maybe we are all just flaky!!:flipoff2: :flipoff2:

I think clubs are tough in general, especially if we have geographic differences and miles in between us. The folks out West seem to have more cruisers in close proximity of each other, and of course, more time it seems (damn westerners always mellow)...Look at the LSLC folks--they have like 5 sub chapters and then there are a few other TLCA sanctioned groups that have nothing to do with LSLC.

We could have a umbrella Ohio club with locale regions represented separately....

In any event, those are my .000000000000002 on what you've said Karl.

Either way, I drive happily to wrench as you all know and I drive happily to hang, trail ride etc. I just dig cruisers and the folks that own them!!

Cheers and happy holidays all.

ps: I think using MUD indefinitely is an ok idea...it's free (well, basically) and we all come here anyway...

Karl and Everyone else,

I'm a newbie here and might as well say a newbie to trail riding since it's been years since I was last on the trail.

I am located in Troy, Ohio North of Dayton by 25 miles. Years ago I was a member of the MOLC, but classes took me away for some time. Now, classes are over and I'm ready to get back to wheeling; although, I seriously need to spend time and $$ under the truck getting it back to being trail ready.

I use to make the drive to Columbus for monthly meetings and I'm willing to make a trek of that distance again, even during the middle of the week.

Just wanted you all to know that a Western Ohio FJ-40 is looking for a club. TLCA membership is coming soon.

Thanks for the input Beno

Hopefully people are traveling over the holidays and will chime in.

I'm interested and willing to do some of the work. I don't think a lot of the old MOLC folks are on this list. I would be happy to cross post to the old topica mailing list to see if we can drum up some interest.

Interested!

I have a '77 FJ40 (trying to sell my '78) and am interested. I'm in Chesterland, OH, near Cleveland. My cruiser only makes it out in the summer though, I don't want road salt eating it away!

Nothin' Nick stole my 40 to figure out my little dizzy no spark problem and install my power steering. The 80 is just hanging out needing a birf job and phh. Oh and I found out baby #2 is on the way. So lets go wheeling soon and drinking.

Many congrats on the incoming.

Why don't you drive up one weekend and we can do the birf and the phh in one weekend.

Let me know when you are up for it.

Happy New Year.

We'll try and hold out to this spring when the weather is warmer. Thanks for keep offering to help with it. I had planned on selling the 80 for a 100 or Dcab Taco but then realized hpw much a second baby would cost and a bigger house. Looks like the 80 will be with me for the next 10 years

I know the area well! So your gf and I were high school rivals, tell her I went to Ledgemont HS. MJM actually used to live around the corner from me (I am actually in the process of moving to Chesterland, just got my keys to a new house!) I've golfed at St. Denis a few times!

Yep I am in the area

Hey Beno,
I also have a 77FJ40 that is in better shape than the 1980 you saw, Dianna congrats on the Chesterland House I may be heading back that way soon. As some may know I like the trucks but dare I say get them muddy so I am into the resto thing and light trails. I am ready to meet up for a session. Happy New Year

MJM

I'm in for the club and willing to travel. I'm on my way to Akron in a couple of weeks to give Tim his wheels back. You going to be around Beno so I can find out about more club info and how I can help? Anyhow I'm game for anything.

Well @&@&@&@&, Im here, but here is in East Lansing now. Nick was nice enough to tow my Now Running 40 up to the new pad.

The 40 is running after some much needed Jim C love. Holly cow is it loud on all 6 with only a header.
I have some bugs to work out. Rear Disks, Brake lights hooked up, Brake Booster. etc.
Hell I even have clear title and insurance on it.....
I have put on 2700 miles in less than a month in the company car. so I can do some driving if needed to provide Jim and anyone else some comic relief.
Let me know whats going on where and I will see if I can make it down.
Santa brought me a bikini top and rear plate from CCOT to replace the missing half doors.

Later, Warren.
