I've seen that some 4Runner owners add gussets to reinforce their spindles as they can bend or break from off-roading. Are weak spindles an issue for the 100 series? Or is this not an issue unless you are wheeling extremely hard?

Time will tell how well the aluminum spindleknuckles on the TNGA vehicles hold up.

I hit a tree and ripped the LCA out of the front frame mount. The UCA and spindle/knuckle appear to be fine. As others have said, our suspension parts are heavily built.

They are common on those rigs because the spindles on light duty Toyota platforms are much smaller than what’s on 100/200/Tundra

Agreed.

Let's ask @cruiserpatch , he's our resident "test pilot" for pushing the limits out of all components. If he hadn't sheared a spindle off, the rest of us are probably in good shape! :p :p
can confirm I have not yet sheared a spindle however I have bent three badly enough that I couldn’t get a good alignment

Well. I guess as long as I can get back to civilization from my "overlanding" trips that's all that matters. Alignment is a nice to have but not a need to have on a 5-7 day trip.

I bent mine, to the point where I have to offset it with caster.
