I wasn't sure which one of my threads to post this in but since I have talked about it in this one might as well post it up here.

So we got our shop on June 1st. The last tenants left a huge friggin' mess that took us two weeks to clean up. Tons of trash, toxic paint/solvents, ect ect. Had to clean it all out and pressure wash it to the ceiling. Since then we have been building shelves, work benches and so forth. Still a long ways from being done and how we want it but here is some pics.

Built this bench last night, all of it besides the cap is made from recylced materials left laying around the property.

A bench and shelf combo, not 100% finished. Several of these benches we are capping with steel.

16ft of shelves built. Need more but this is a start.

Pretty big shop, over 2,000sqft.

Need to do a lot of work over on this side but we are still using it the way it is. That is a Tuktuk being restored in the LHS corner. A project my roomie is doing.

All the steel needed to build a rolling fab table, 4x8ft in size.

The driveway was trashed and full of potholes. Not to mention all the silica in it from the last guys sand blasting in the driveway. It sucked badly as it would blow around dust/silica every time the wind blew. We have the whole thing graded, new crush and then mag'ed. Much better now.

oh how nice it must be to have that much floor space/working area! Looking good.

I, I'm in the process of building a new table as well. I'm putting a 3' x 3' cutting insert in mine on one end. (I have a plasma pantograph that will love being on a bigger platform now) Need that CNC plasma next.

Brother, cleaning out a shop is a PITA and getting everything where you want it... So many decisions! But, it sure will be nice to walk around Goss without tripping on things.. well for awhile.

Looking good!

For sure man, probably going to be 4-6 months before the shop is all perfect and how we want it. We are knocking things out though like the fab table and I am already spending just about every night working in the shop.

Been putting a lot of thought into this lately and I think I am going to scrap this project.

I got an 80 a year ago, in the last year I have built it up a bit and fixed many things. It is really coming around now and I like it a lot. My 83 Patrol is just sitting as a shell with the body on chassis and the portals under it sitting on blocks. I think I am going to put the diesel plus NV4500 plus t-case into my 80. Then swap the v8 and 4L60 in my 80 now into the 83 Patrol. All the Patrol will need at that point is some 2nd hand coil overs and it will be back to a crawler again. I can go several ways with the t-case including putting the Atlas in the Patrol behind the v8 and putting the split case in the 80 behind the nv4500 or vise versa.

The portals were always a bit of a question or delima in this build. They are more suited to a non HWY truck. They are already set up and under my Patrol and I do like that truck a lot. Like I say I dig my 80 a lot and it suits me for an overland type truck. The diesel will also suit that kind of build and what I will use the truck for. The v8 and auto suit the crawler pretty good. So it is all kind of making sense.

I just spent two days in the dunes with some friends and this is kind of what made me make the final decision. This means I am going to sell off the FJ62 stuff.

Sorry folks, this was going to be a sweet build but the 80 with the diesel is also going to be a sweet truck, it already is!

Cheers

Hey, as long as you put that freaking diesel to use, it will be a good build. Sounds like the best solution to me really, good luck, and we need pics...

What has really done it for me is the 80. I blame Georg!! Haha, just kidding. I really like my 80 now, it has grown on me a ton. It has come around a lot and I have done a ton to it this last year. The final straw was the Procar seat into the 80 and a trip to the dunes this last weekend. On the drive home from the dunes I made up my mind to scrap this project. The seat came out perfect for me and I been seeking this seat and the seating position I set it up at for like 5-6yrs or more now. It is super comfy and makes me sit with great posture, perfect for long road trips to faraway lands. I mean for crying out loud I just put nearly $2k of OEM rubber into my 80 in July plus a full paint re-fresh plus Monstaliner plus front bar, winch and pimp LED light bar. I am just about to put a Y-link steering kit in it and c&t the front end. After that I just need new shocks. The truck is getting to be 80+% of exactly what I want for many years now. Going to put the diesel in it with the NV4500 which will change the truck a lot, might suck in the dunes after this and not be so great for a DD but I don't care. The Patrol with the v8 should be fun in the dunes and the 80 can tow it! :) Plus the diesel will rock on road trips and the manual is better suited to an overland truck while the auto is better suited to a crawler. Not to mention the portals have always been a potential issue with this project and they are already set up under my 83 Patrol. All I need is some 14" c/o and few other bits and the Patrol will live again.

Apologies again for wasting anybodies time or interest in this thread. I sold the 62 today so it is a done deal and I am moving forward with my 80 plus Patrol.

Cheers

Probably missed it, but which diesel's mating to the NV4500? You won't miss gas driving Dunes, if she's set-up right. Just some black smoke....

Sweet 2000 sqft mancave.
