I have been considering which of these to buy. There are a number of youtube videos out there that suggest the Sequoia is a "bargain basement" version of the LX 600, that the two are remarkably similar, yet there are still enough differences to have a 20 minute video. Yet from what I have seen, the two only share a few things - engine and transmission - and are otherwise quite unique vehicles.

I guess the big thing for me is ride quality. If you're going to spend north of $80K on a SUV, it should ride like a cloud. Some say the Sequoia is quite good, others claim, with the 22 inch wheels on the Capstone, that you feel every bump in the road. Who is right? And then there is the straight rear axle. Is it a straight rear axle for both the LX and the Sequoia?

Would love to hear comments from those that have looked at both of these vehicles.

My perspective is the Sequoia is the Land Cruiser USA does not get. The platform is the same (TGNF) but sequoia is stretched (122 WB vs 112). Better platform for overlanding. Capstone is the mall-crawling edition, save money and build it out as needed.

Not happy about the hybrid-only (no option). However it might be the ultimate overlanding power source.

If you want it to ride like a cloud and feel like “80k” I’d stick with the Lexus. I’ll let you know for sure when my sequoia lands in the next couple weeks but having owned numerous 4R, GX, LC200 , LX 570 etc the Lexuses (sp?) always had another level of refinement. I went sequoia because my lexus dealer was playing games and frankly with the options I would want it’s not an 80k vehicle it’s 100+ now. I paid like 75 for my LC200 and 77 or so for my LX 570. Much like I did with my LC200 if prices soften or availability shifts for the LX 600 maybe I’ll consider trading up for an LX 600 premium with appearance package and 18s in Nori with brown interior.

We literally have the 300 series land cruiser albeit a name and a different front end. If you want me to crap in a box and write Land Cruiser on it so people can say they bought a "REAL Land Cruiser" I am happy to do so. I've got time.

Complete with $80,000 markup and snow plow grill.

If they deleted the third row and gave you a flat floor in the Sequoia I'd probably be placing a deposit for one, but that battery hump is a non-starter for me.

Yup. Hybrid delete (thus no hump), and third row delete and it would be take my money now.

Not sure why they cater to a market of only 14% and ignore the other 86%.

Um... because this is America and that's what we do, that's what's gotten us to where we are

Technically it is Japan and you would think they would tire of being the worst selling F/S SUV on the planet.

Recently purchase a Tundra Capstone. The first thing I did is to get rid of the 22" wheels. Installed 315/70/17" and took care of the comfort.
My wife 2016 GX is getting old , in her eyes ,, and we started to look at what she would like. We looked at a Sequoia Capstone and LX600 as well..
DAY and Night in my eyes.
The Sequoia as well my Tundra feel so flimsy compare to the Lexus
You push on the dashboard or armrest and you wonder if and when is going to crack under my arm. They installed little bit nicer pieces but you move your hand a little left or right you find the typical plastic evrywhere. After paying almost $80 k for the Tundra I am a strong believer that the LC200 was a fantastic deal at $90k
The configuration of the rear space on the Sequoia is just plain tiring. Who has the patience to adjust that shelf every time you open and need to put something different in size.
The LX is a little smaller inside and you will feel it the moment you step in but evrything you touch and push is just like is built to last forever. We like that third seat is headen when we don't need it , same as the GX.
We are definetely going with the LX but unfortunatelly the dealer wants 50K over and he wants us to buy what he gets alocated . We want to order one but he is telling me that is going to take two years to get one. I know they are full of crap and fortunatelly we are not forced to buy now.
