put some red, green, or blue LEDs on a pressure switch that turns them on when ever the door is open.

I don't know why I never thought about a pressure switch. There are lights in the basement but the switch is downstairs. I usually turn it on with my foot on the way down.

that was weird. ABC was reporting that it was breaking up, I was texting with French about it and then switched to NBC and they were basically running out of the newsroom and saying to take cover in Homewood. Then it went instantly from pouring rain to dead calm so we went to the hall, no time to get the kids down to the basement. no problems though.
