Ok, reading thru this thread from the start tonight, and saw your special tool. I'm in the process of pulling the transmission today, and used a pry bar wedged between the studs and the to the frame to remove the stake nut. It worked, and I thought about rigging a tool like yours, but fortunately the pry bar method worked.

Your version is simpler than my idea though. I was going to drill 2 holes.

Whatever works. I wouldn't do that on a helicopter but a Toyota tractor? Seems okay to me.

Fuel pump replaced. I am now getting fuel to the carb but it does not appear I am getting fuel into the throttle body..

I have spark to all cylinders so I know that is good and there is fuel in the site glass.

I also discovered that after turning the dizzy 180, I had it right the first time and had to turn it back around :bang:

Finally the bad news. Cylinder #4 only has 25psi. You get what you pay for. In this case, it was shipping. :frown:

After this was discovered my assistant ( :princess: ) left in what can only be described as total and utter disgust. She is as ready to push it off a cliff as anyone.

Chris!!! This sucks bad!!! U can't give up.. I know a guy that was in Ur place but spent 3k on his engine!!!!! U told him to walk away and figure it out when he felt like it! This is not a deal breaker.. its a bump that one day we will look back and say f@$k it!!! Walk away from this.. it will be there when u are ready!!!

I hear ya Aaron. And you are right. I need to bolt on what I can and work out a couple bugs on some othe stuff. I will revisit it then I guess.

Not sure if it could just be a bad valve. I guess that is the most likely scenario.

:meh:

Great thread, the compression issue is only a set back. The hardest part will be taking apart everything you spent so much time putting together.

Keep at it.

the concern is not so much taking everything apart, it is that I have a finite amount of time left in the United States. I will be moving to the Philippines in about 6 months.

Have you tried putting oil in the bad cylinder to see whether that boosts compression (rings) or not (valves)? Unlikely to be head gasket if only one cylinder is down. Most likely valves in my experience.

Are you taking that poor rig to the Philippines?

I have put oil in the cylinder and that made no difference.

I am guessing that I have a bad valve. I have the valve cover of last night but fail to take a good look at it to see if I could tell. I do have another 2 app motor in the garage that is seized. it came out of a parts rig. I am considering going ahead and having that had redone and then swapping them.

and no, this rig is not going to the Philippines with me. I'm only taking my hundred series

May be something else. I will check the something else and let the world know. The next few days are busy though do no garage time until Sunday.

Keep fingers crossed....

Engine is running smoothly although the number 4 valves are pretty bad. I discovered I missed putting on a 1" hose clamp up front on one of the many joints in the cooling system and the leak made it,appear water was coming out of the timing gear cover  So no leaks!

I drive it back and forth in the drive way!

Next on the punch list...

Read your entire build today, you're doing a great job. Rig looks factory. Sweet. Pulling the head isn't a major hurdle, I would suspect the double joint steering column will take more work because of the fabrication issues. Don't swap heads, use the original one for that 2F motor. Just an off/on procedure, pure wrenching stuff. I followed closely your issues w/ putting the frt clip on, I'm at a similar stage due to different circumstances. Did you have problems w/ paint chipping when attaching the skirts/bib/fenders together(metal to metal)? I purchased some rubber shims from an Ebay vendor, but haven't installed the frt clip yet. I noticed you didn't have the running boards on when adjusting the fenders, yet they affect the forward/backward movement of the fenders. Do you have any problems w/ the position of the running boards? I'm asking because I haven't done this yet, and have concerns about getting everything to align w/ the hood, and not chip the crap out of the panels. I admire all your anal work. Good stuff.
