hahah.. ok, i'll try to comb through this thread later and figure out what the final list was.

I will try and look as well. Somewhere back there I did a sumary and up date. I think, I would take that and then just scan for update info (don't think there have been many changes). Then there is the little stuff like the the recent gas door bumper thread and I think that Lou (n2666s) still has some of the rubber that he made for the door window regulators.

Eric,

Are we still considering some type of fab for the rubber hood cowl?

Forgive this noob if I have used the wrong term...you know the flat rubber underneath the engine compartment near the windshield? Didn't know if we were going to pitch in if it can be created....Dave

Dave, I think Lou still wants to do it but finding a model pc is the probelm. Both of mine are on my 55 but one was already torn and the other started falling apart as I tried to remove it. We need to find one from a cool climate I think. Out here the desert sun just eats rubber.

Edit: got no idea what it is called...guess we are just going for cowl seal.

@eric: i just combed through the entire thing again. i think we need to hear back from those that did the group buy on the fairchild stuff to see how the frame w/s stuff went.

your post is here by the way: IH8MUD Forums - View Single Post - The FJ55 Weatherstrip Guide

Bryan (correct yes?), Some more definitive word back is always good. I have heard from a couple of sources that the fairchild stuff is good. The SOR was pricy but good. I am curious as two weather or not there have been some stock number changes on the JC witney.

I think if we can come up with a updated good sumary then a new thread is in order...something like a single post that does not take off like this one. A post that can just be updated occaisionally.

BTW Bryan, the rubber that Lou/n2666s produced for the window regualtors was a one time deal (most likely) and soon will be gone. If you want some you should PM him.

yeah, it's bryan. i'm still unsure as to whether or not jc whitney sells the fairchild stuff. a couple posts early on indicated that, but then people organized a group purchase from fairchild. so i'm confused.

thanks for the info about the window regulator stuff.

agree on the single post. this thread was good to suss out a lot of info, but i think at this point we can canonize it.

need sample of cowl to hood rubber seal for fabbing estimate

:steer:spending a lot of time on the road now so have not been able to get on mud 'cept sporadically.....BUT still needing the cowl to rubber seal to get the water from going down the firewall and into the floorboards..........need a decent sample of the cowl to hood rubber seal to get an estimate on fabbing a short run; Ige sent me a sample.........but it was too far gone for my fabber to give me a quote:frown:; need only about 2-3 inches;

Lou

can't seem to find this on JCWhitney: Driver/ JC Whitney/ $17/ ZX813688A/ 10 ft

the passenger one changed to ZX813689R as noted in an earlier post, but has anyone had luck finding the ZX813688A?

edit:
----

i talked to jc whitney today, ZX813689R is for both passenger and driver side. but it's now discontinued. they had 12 in stock. i bought 4 of them. so there is 8 left. if you want them, better get them now.

now that i got the 75 up here, i peeled a side off of it. don't know if it's in any better condition, but let's hope so...i'll get it off to ya tomorrow

I've been in contact with Rare Spares out in AU. They are going to be sending me pics in the next week of the weather stripping they sell. Will post up when I get them.

got the sample hood to cowl seal from Ige and it looks like it will work; it goes out tomorrow for a fabbing price quote; was thinking that it might be better to have the lip a bit longer to give a better seal against the hood...see post # 406 on this thread any thoughts?; comments are welcome; TIA

Lou

only issue there would be if it would cause it to bend down differently. is it supposed to seal against teh hood, or is it just to divert water? i'm not sure how it actually works, never really looked into it.

hopefully that makes sense...i'm drunk on monster right now:D

Great News!!! Thanks Ige and Lou:beer::beer::beer:

I'm in, I don't have this as it was in no condition to replace when I did the work on my truck.
