Does anybody have good pictures of the upper tailgate weatherstrip installed , that Slo Cruiser sells ?

Lou

What EXACTLY do you need to see? I can take a picture of mine.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but this is installed on the tailgate and I have not seen it installed and how it fits with the tailgate open and when it's closed. It's never been posted here in detail and I'm considering ordering one from SloCruisers. Does it close the small gap between the upper weatherstrip that the tailgate glass slides into when the tailqate is closed

Take a look at post #14 in my POTM thread https://forum.ih8mud.com/fj55-iron-...972-september-potm-cruiser-guy-guatemala.html and you can see my install of the piece I think you're talking about. If you need more detail just let me know.

I'll link to them:

I just placed an order through JC whitney. Here are the number and current prices:

  • Door Channel ZX184879T $14.99 each (4 needed)
  • Inner felt ZX193480P $18.99 each(4 needed)
  • Outer felt/seal ZX819752R $30.99 each(4 needed)
  • Door seal(pass) ZX813689R $19.99 each(2 needed)
  • Door seal(drive) ZX813688A $19.99 each(2 needed)
Grand total of $340 to my door:eek:

Yup, I did the same thing to see what the total was going to be a week or so ago, It adds up quickly, That didnt include the parts from other vendors

Any idea on where I can get the channel that the window rolls down into inside the tailgate? Thanks!

channels that the glass slides in? (thats what it sounds like but just in case) vs channel that holds the window glass at the base?

John, I thought so as well. I recall someone just using felt and adhesive. I have not reviewed it here yet. BTW John...I tried to email you the other night but your box was full.

Eric, the piece in question is the two side channel felt/rubber pieces the window slides in.

I could swear I saw a post in here about them but now I can't find em:bang: I need to get something in there for mine also:rolleyes:

Around post 342 and variously thru bout 367 on this thread.

Can anyone verify the following: I lowerd my TG and ran the window in and out with the inspection plate off and looking down the drvr edge into the barrel (so as to speak) of the inner side channels. what I observed was that the glass never contacted the sides of the felt as it moved. It seemed to be held static relative to the side channels by the regulator channel that holds the glass?

This makes sense as I never heard glass scratching on metal when I was raisiing and lowering the window on my 7/70 which had no felt in the side channels at all.

:hhmm:Eric, don't think mine makes contact either.........seems to be held in place by the regulator channel rubber......HTH

Hey Lou, good to see you back here. I watched it pretty carefully. I am thinking a combination of FJ40 lower door window felt and maybe edge gaurd might do well for the rear side channels. It is 11/16 wide but not 7/8 (1/2) I think. The old window felt in my 7/70 is closer and might work as well.

I'd like to see what the door felt from an early 40 door with wing windows looks like how it measures out.

so did we ever come to consensus on what weather stripping will fit without causing binding on the door and such? i need to order some for my doors, the stuff that the PO put on won't allow a couple of the doors to shut all the way. would be rad to see a final list (like the first post) of all the weather stripping that actually fits.

Which weatherstrip for the doors? The stuff on the doors or the stuff on the frame?

The frame weather-stripping.

although i need the door stuff too at some point.

but there's that list in the first post, and from what i gathered from reading through the thread, half of it isn't right. we should put together an updated list.
