I had CEL and the engine was running like crap. I found out it was a misfire on number 6. I found a coil at a close by NAPA store 70.00 dollars. I also bought a set of plugs for it; I have never touched the plugs since i bought it. Right now I have put on about 60K (211K total) miles since I bought it; including a 3K trip to the Alaska highway . I got the air induction and silencer out of the way and pulled out the spark-plug coil. There was no dielectric grease at all and the plug was hard to get off. Looked like never been touched since new (maybe?). The spark-plug came out very hard and no anti-seize on the threads. The plug was very worn, large gap and a little black with the rich mixture burning because of the misfire. I replaced all 4 plugs on PS only then ran out of daylight. The plug that came out was NGK IR IFR6T (OEM?). I feel that it might be the cause of the misfire was excessive gap on the spark plug. I will test the coil on another spark plug and see how it runs. It will be cheaper to replace the plugs first, reset CEL and see how it runs. With the 4 changed out it purrs like cat again.
