Phil, according to my local distributor mobil 1 makes a moly synthetic grease but I would have to order 40 tubes or tubs at a time.

I don't see any reference to a moly M1 on there website.

I did find this reference on the Mobil site (not Mobil 1):

Mobilith SHC 1000 Special is a NLGI 2 Grade grease with ISO VG 1000 synthetic base oil and strongly fortified with solid lubricants including micronised graphite and molybdenum disulphide for maximum protection of plain or rolling element bearings operating under boundary lubrication regimes. This product is designed to extend bearing life under conditions of extremely slow speeds, heavy loads and high temperatures. Mobilith SHC 1000 Special has a recommended operating temperature of -30°C to 180°C with appropriate relubrication intervals. The wax-free synthetic base fluid provides excellent low temperature mobility / pumpability.

Phil - I used the redline in the wheel bearings because a high temperature grease was specified. I had planned on using Amsoil GLC for the wheel bearings (but could not source - and parts guy suggested CV-2) and GHD for the birfield. I could not get the GHD - and the best my local AutoZone had was the M1 (I figured it would have to do - since they only make one type of grease). I would have gone w/ all Redline but I had only purchased the one tube (and it's really expensive). Hopefully it will perform well...

The redline looks OK for wheel bearings but M1 for the birfield in my opinion is not good. Myself I'm going to use M1 in bearings which has a 500 degree rating ($5 per tube). The fact that it is synthetic is a bonus. I'll use moly grease from Tractor Supply at $1.60 a tube for the birfield. I really don't see a need for a high cost synthetic for this application. I do run M1 in engine, transmission, transfer and pumpkins.

on the other hand, you're trying to save like $10-$20 on grease for a $400-$600 birfield in a job that takes 2 whole days to do........

Well its more like $40 but that isn't the reason. This stuff is used in $100,000+ pieces of machinery. Owners want protection not bling.
