So, with the temps dipping and being a new diesel owner I have questions about the glow plugs on the 13B-T and the 12H-T. On the wife's BJ71 (13B-T) I have yet to see the glow light come on. We have had temps as low as 8 degrees F so far, but the light has never come on. Should the light come on when the key is turned like the filter light next to it? I know the glow plugs might not fire, but should the light be coming on? And should I expect the same with the HJ61 (12H-T)?

Also, exactly how long do the glow plugs fire for? Is it dependent on engine temp? I have read anywhere from 2 second to 15 seconds in my search.

Don't know the answers to your questions but my BJ74 glow light never came on and I thought something was wrong. Then it got below 0°F and low and behold light came on and I heard the glow click, just as I used to hear everytime with my 3B. Even with temps in the 20s mine wasn't glowing. Maybe it just needs to get colder?

My light has not come on yet. I have only tried to start it outside once when it was about 30. Otherwise, it is in a 50 degree garage. If i want it to glow when it is not real cold, I unplug the tstat sensor.

Yes, the light comes on under the filter light

I haven't seen a light on the 13B-T with temps down to 22 degrees (F). (Starts instantly)
My 2H has a manual glow plug button (no light). First start of the day (warm temps), I press the button and count to 5 Mississippi and on cold days I count to 10-15 Mississippi. :)
