How was it? I have to do this next year.

Actually the rebuild itself was a piece of cake...it is the cleaning that kicked my ass. I had 25 years of oil and grease leakage built up on my knuckles and end of axles...so much you could not see the bolts or anything under the one inch thick layer of petroleum excess... Luckily, using a parts washer with solvent...plus a few cans of brake and parts cleaner to dry them off...and it went as good as could be expected. I think I took an hour or maybe 90 minutes to clean everything PER SIDE.....so of the 6.5-7 hours of time...half of that was cleaning up the parts before they got reinstalled.

Having someone there that has done it before to watch me definitely made it less stressful. I am confident I could do the next by myself given the purchase of 56mm hub socket, c-clip pliers, brass punch, and a couple other tricks for seating parts flush that Glenn used from experience that I would not have thought of....plus next time mine wont be so filthy so it will go quick. :D :D

I did not get done until after 6pm and was beat.....so never got directions from Glenn to go by and get it. I will try unless David or you swing by West Ashley or my office off Leeds Ave one day. If not then will try and get it this weekend instead...

That cool...

I'll trade......I get the tow hook to you and you rebuild the knuckles on my 62....
....Sounds good to me.....

I will take out the parts and replace them....if you do all the cleaning of parts and packing of everything with grease. LOL
no, I would rather walk to james island to get the hook than do all that scrubbing and cleaning of parts again...unless mine was just unusually dirty and nasty from years of leakage. LOL
