Hi all!

So I just replaced my alternator and power steering pump in an attempt to solve a noise that had been getting louder over the past week or so. While I was disassembling everything I noticed the tensioner pulley wasn't spinning so I went ahead and replaced that while I had everything torn apart. Alternator and power steering pump install went fine but I noticed the new tensioner pulley isn't spinning when the bolt is tightened. I checked the bearing on the new unit before installing and it seemed fine so I'm a little stumped as to what's going on here. I tried backing the bolt off a bit until it spins but then once the engine is started it tightens up and stops spinning. Any thoughts here?

Well, with the belt off and the pulley bolt tight, it should spin freely. There was an updated version of the tensioner assembly and the new pulley might not be compatible with the old assembly. I recommend just buying a whole new tensioner assembly. The spring does wear out over time.

Pulled it off to inspect things and sure enough, it's the wrong part. The bearing is too recessed so the bolt and washer thing are actually pressing against the pulley. If anyone has a correct part # shoot it my way.
