For whatever reason, the temperature gauge in my 60 is not working. All the other gauges are , so I assume it's not the 7.5 fuse. I can't find the sensor in the 2F compartment; I thought I'd start with that. Any help/ guidance will be appreciated by this rookie. Thanks!:)

Between the carb and valve cover, my advice is to switch to a mech. guage. Add a mech oil pres. guage while you're at it. my 2c

Sorry I don't have specific info right now, but the sensor is almost always where the coolant exits the head just under or around the area of the thermostat.

Look for a single wire connecting to a thread in sensor on the head near the thermostat. You can remove the sensor wire and ground it to check if the circuit is complete. Grounding the wire should cause the gauge to read full hot.

hope this helps,

Rick

Thanks for your 2c. I appreciate it. I just replaced the steering pump and in doing so had to remove the air cleaner and various hoses. I marked everything and all went back together well, except my temp. gauge isn't working. If you would, I would appreciate any more specifics for the location of the sender before I start removing the air cleaner and hoses again. Yhanks. N.M.

Thanks, please see Post 5; I'm knew at this computer stuff. Thanks, Norris.

On 2fs there are one sometimes two sensors screwed into the head on the carb side towards the rear of the head. They are pretty obvious.

Guys, Thanks for the help. I found the sensor, tinkered with the connection, and all is well. It is in the back of the engine on the driver's side between the carburetor and valve cover. I don't understand the design. On the 3FE, the sensor is up front where logic suggests it would be.
