Hi all,

Have an issue with my temp gauge.

I replaced the gauge, same issue.
Replaced the gauge, same issue.

The issue is now the gauge doesn’t start at cold and move up to operating temp.

On a cold start it goes straight to the middle (warmed up).

Since replacing the gauge on accessories it seems to fluctuate (move). Well leads me to believe it could’ve happened from when the lift pump was installed (1hdft) near the filter.

Possible some sort of electrical interference or draw?

I think I’ve answered my own question here but I don’t like chasing electrical gremlins. Has anyone else experienced something like this?

Have you tried a new sensor? There are 2 temp sensors in the cylinder - one is for the ECU and the other feeds the guage.

No ecu on a 1hdft . . .

But yeah, try a different sender.
Also check all ground/ earth wires from engine to frame, body, battery, alternator.

If you've had something disconnected or bumped something while doing other work could be a bad ground

Not sure how I missed the 1hdft reference 🤔

I think there is the primary ground on the block missing - when I was looking at the connection yesterday.

But I’m not sure what it grounds (just under the temp sensor) near the filter

I don’t think the FSM has a wiring diagram

IIRC, the FSM advises taking great care when working around or touching the needle on this gauge. You might cautiously try a corrective bump to see if it helps.

It was replaced with a brand new module - I think it’s an electrical gremlin. Just not sure where to look.
