Temp gauge accuracy

I'm wondering how accurate the engine temp gauge is. I've had no issues and have recently had the coolant flushed and hoses replaced but with temps at 110+ here it would be nice to know the gauge works. Curious if it is like the gauge in the 80's that need the mod to read accurately (or Torque app which I use for it). Thanks.

My scangauge so far (I haven't had it running for long) shows from 175 to 200 degrees coolant temp with NO movement of the dash gauge.

I've heard they are great. I already have an OBD scanner and Torque app for my 80 I could throw on there, but my wife drives it and no way she'd want to monitor that all the time. Just wondering if there would be more notice of an overly hot engine (80's can be fixed with a resistor to read more accurate). All good. Won't worry about it. Thanks.
