So what if they had put that $1-5M into environmental preservation and/or research?

WHAT A CROCK!!!

Seems like they are now passed that and on to the do what ever they want thing.

Awesome........ I'm moving to Oz

I know a guy who works for a company that is currently bidding on that job. Removing the trails seems like a done deal. I figured once they had their foot in the door by closing a few trails, Tellico was doomed.

Wow, this is enough to really piss ya off, eh? Like Ramon said, they'll put the money towards destroying the trails, but not into repairing them.

Wow...................they would not have prepared and put it out to bid if it were not a done deal. This is a prime example of what a little bit of power and a lot of money behind you can do.

It is my belief that from the first moment it was anounced that Tellico "May" close it was all over. I believe that the hearings etc were merely a show to make it seem as though a great deal of thought was put into it. On the contray, it was done in support f a very powerful group with lots of money and influence.

My neighor in NC was an avid trout fisherman, he told me that no trout fisherman worth spit fished up there, fishing was never any good there. He also refuses to join Trout Unlimited.

I miss Tellico, I had some good times there.........

ITB and Plans

For those interested I have access to and have posted the plans for the work. It will be interesting to see how much damage is done in removing vs. leaving in place for those to enjoy.

If anyone would like further information let me know and I will provide it.

To be fair, I would not bug the winning contractor. They probably have no idea what the history of the trails are and they are just looking for another construction gig. If anyone needs to hear about it, it should be the boys in DC playing their little board game of money shuffling like it is some game of Monopoly. Only it's our money they are playing with.

Just my .02

[full disclosure: I work for a General Contractor and we bid on jobs posted at FBO.gov, but not stuff like this. Mostly education/office/commercial buildings.]
