I picked top my Cruiser today after leaving it with Carolina Auto Electric to have the alternator replaced and ac couple of other minor things done. So, today I had to drive it over to LEX-TECH due to some issues. Help me out her.
1)First issue was I couldn't turn the key in the ignition. Needed up taking apart the column and basically hot wiring it.

2) A LOT of buzzing and winning noise coming from the speakers after alternator install.

3) VERY VERY ROUGH idle and a crap ton of smoke. Mostly black smoke. So I think it is running too rich. At idle it almost feels like its going to shut off.

4) The next issue has me confused. You know the feeling when the roads are wet and you can spin the tires while you are driving accelerating?. Well, that is the feeling I get when I am driving and put the pedal to the floor. It sounds like something is slipping. The engine reeves higher but obviously the PIG isn't going to spin the tires.

4) engine revving and no accelleration sounds like a clutch issue - clutch slipping. Is there ssignificant oil loss evident at the engine / transmission?

2) sounds like a ground issue .... or on my truck, I have a lead on the Voltage Regulator (mounted just below the brake booster on drivers side firewall) with a lead to connect to counter AM radio 'whine' due to engine RPM. Maybe a lead was left unconnected. Could try some jumpers to see if you can get a better ground. Maybe loose screws holding the radio into the dash....?

I thought that was reason it was in UPSTATE was to get all that stuff fixed...what happened there?
this is stuff that popped up when I got back. I had Marshall install the A/C

1) No idea except wrong key...
2). Agreed with Erik. Sounds like you need a ground loop isolator. If not that, it might be your head unit... But grounds are probably the cause here.
3). Thinking carburetor, but did you recently swap out for an electronic distributor?
4) Clutch.

3- great overs observation Jeremy. Also check the distributor timing.

#3 is definatly the carb...excessive gas burns black. take a SMALL hammer and tap the top of the carb where the fuel line goes in. Probably a piece of trash in the needle and seat.
The radio static should be a ground, but could be in the alt.itself.
Unfortunatly, it sounds like you will need a clutch. We can do it here if you would like. We can replace the rear main seal while we're at it.
No clue about the key

How did this work out @BBQ BOY ?

I have had multiple disappointments with CAE. I won't go into the details.

Ignition switches always wear out with time, but they usually become easier to turn. If someone were to force the switch with another key (perhaps by trying to use the wrong key) it could potentially break it...

2) A LOT of buzzing and winning noise coming from the speakers after alternator install.

Bad ground, or cables run too close to speaker wires. Or did they run the new alternator wiring across the engine instead of properly routing it?

3) VERY VERY ROUGH idle and a crap ton of smoke. Mostly black smoke. So I think it is running too rich. At idle it almost feels like its going to shut off.

So its getting too much fuel and running super rough at idle... Does it do it when cold and warmed up? Wonder if its something with the electric choke.

Totally sounds like a slipping clutch to me.

How did this all work out?

I just needed a new ignition cylinder

Most of te noise has just diapered. Not sure what the issue could have been

Glenn at Lextech said the carb was bad and we replace it.

Actually, I had to adjust the clutch slave. Problem solved.
