Tech Day, with BEER

Our club has not had a tech day for quite some time and I have always thought that it would be helpful to the many non-mechanics amongst us.

So, is there any interest in such an event? I could host some at my home, I have lots of room for vehicles, chairs, etc.

This event would definitely be BYOP (bring your own parts) as my parts are far too expensive. :)

Nah, you infiltrators will just take the whole damn truck. :D

Not take - the word is Rescue! ;) Too many people out there abondoning their poor Land Cruisers to a life of sitting, getting moldy and oxidating away. But no one from our club would be guilty of that, eh?

The last tech day I remember was at the old old old "club house" at Daves shop in Burnaby. I'd be up for it again.

C'mon Jeff, the memory is slipping. I think Brad hosted at least two (may have been Brad & Rob) and I think Rob hosted at least one.

OK.

July 19th it is. Say 10 am

PM me for contact information and please, let me know who you are in the real world.

Thanks.

I have the day off so I should be able to attend. I can even bring my bearing packer for those that want to use it. I'll PM you later Kim for directions.

Bearing packer is more of a luxury than necessity. Princess Auto has them on sale from time to time for about $10. If you do as many as I do it's a real time saver.

They the bearing packer on sale a couple weeks ago along with a supply of 24V sealed beam Grote tractor lights for $12 in their surplus side. I should have bought the bearing packer. It does take a fair bit of time to get in enough grease to fill those little buggers.

Kim is pretty good at bearing packing - at least wheel bearings. :)

I was implying the joy that was had a good number of years back at a Coastal Cruiser "bearing packing party" on Clearbrook Rd. I don't recall, but I think there was a knuckle or two in there as well.

Well, tech day is fast approaching, this Sunday it is.

I have been thinking that 1 pm is too late to begin for a Sunday so I am changing it to 10 am.

I am all ears for ideas on stuff to do. I'm no mechanic, Network guy actually, but some ideas I have;

compression testing, I have a cheapo tester. Anyone have a leak down guage?
spring-over on my M101 :) (maybe it will turn into 'work on Kim's junk day'.
John's lift kit, if it arrives.

I have a bbq, we can do lunch, bring your own meat. I'm pretty sure I can talk my wife into making some salads.

I have a kid and wife friendly yard so everyone is welcome.
