I have been a long time lurker in the iH8Mud forums, but this is my first post.

In the next few months I plan on buying an FJZ80 (or maybe, just maybe a FJ62) to do some exploring in the Sierra. I have an LX470 now, but it is far to shiny and low mileage for me to beat it up exploring the areas I am interested in. I have spent a lot of time on this site, and the Slee site searching for various issues I should be aware of with the 80's.

But, if there is anyone who lives in the greater Sacramento area (I am in El Dorado Hills) who would be willing to show me around their rig, and discuss common problems, what to look for when purchasing used, or anything you wished you would have known before you bought yours, I would be eternally grateful and come with beers in hand. Or if there are any meetups planned in the future (I couldnt find any), I would appreciate the chance to attend.

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help me get started on the journey.

I'm in the Rancho Cordova area and would be glad to go over my truck and share what I know/have learned. Click the link in my sig for my build thread. I've done a lot in the year I've owned it, including the head gasket replacement a few months ago.

Come on over to my place...we can talk while you hand me tools! I just pulled both differentials this morning and took them in for 5.29's and ARB's! The Slee shipment arrives tomorrow...what time can you be here?! Just kidding...have fun. Your really should go hit your LX470 with a hammer...once you get ONE dent, you won't worry anymore! Wheel the hell out of it!

If you need someone to go with to check out a cruiser let me know!

You guys are awesome thank you. Jose, I will take a look at your build thread and send you a PM to check your schedule and get your beer order!

Thanks again!!

Andrew

Ditto. I'd be happy to help with anyone needing it. You'd just have to point and show me the way. But seriously, I am pretty donkey-proof. Maybe.
