I just bought a doner rig for the motor and tranny, what all should I be keeping for the swap? This will be going in a 1970 fj40.

I would make sure to keep all of the air filter housing and plumbing, all of the brackets and accessories on the front of the engine, potentially the wiring harness & ECM, throttle cable, any and all sensors, wiring harness if any that connects to transmission, auto trans cooler hoses, fuel filter, fuel tank and fuel pump, write the VIN # down and keep up with it, shifter linkage for trans and transfter case, if it has any of hte optional coolers in front of the radiator save that, if I has the optional electric cooling fan in the front of hte radiator save that. Any wiring and pigtails that coonect to anything on the engine.

If you can keep the whole donor rig around until everything is complete it makes it much easier if you forgot something. During my 1st TBI swap I kept the donor van around right up until the end and as soon as I got rid of it I needed the DRAC module and ALDL which I had forgotten to pull originally.

The expensive parts of any conversion isn't necessarily the big stuff...as Clint noted, be SURE you keep anything and everything that attached to the harness...anything you forget will be necessary and expensive...lol
