Spent a good part of today at the tattoo parlor. I've wanted one for a while but couldn't find one that I was 100% on getting. Finally figured out what I wanted and took the dive today. The wife, father in-law and one of the wife's brother's friend spent some time in the chair.

BTW if anyone says that they don't hurt then they are lying :D...here are some pics

Mine (Livestrong in Japanese Kanji)

Steph's

her dad's (Tarus bull)

her brother's buddy's (he spent 4 1/2 hours in the chair - wow)

I still am not sure about mine but Andrea has small tirbal lizard on her foot.

Ya'll realize those things are permanent?

At our annual field training for the Nat'l Guard one year, I planned on getting a tattoo - a main battle tank scaling a hill of skulls. Thankfully I was so drunk I passed out so the guy wouldn't do it, and thankfully no-one could coerce him to do something even stoopider.

Love the Tat.

Hear you on the Army and tats. Almost got one in Colombia about 10 times. I think I was the only guy that didn't. Wanted one since 7th Grade but could never decide on anything.

Livestrong is badass though....that is something you will never grow out of. Good choice.

Nice. Like we had talked about Jon, I don't have anything that when I'm 80 I'll look at and still think, "cool". You however, have picked something that will forever be relevant and empowering. Digs! That one dude's back tat is nuts.

 R

I still don't regret mine, mine was three hours in the chair. It doesn't hurt hurt, but after awhile the pain does get a little too much to bare... I've got an idea for my next one on my other shoulder...

Good choice Jon. Well done! I just hope you had the Kanji checked to make sure it doesn't say something horrible like "Jeep lover".

I can not think of too many other NCO's that i worked with in my career that did not have a tat and still do not have a tat. Never found one i liked and now i am getting to that age that too soon from now it will not look good anymore.

I did the best I could not really being versed in Kanji :D. I actually paid for the translation from a reputable website and then did some searching on the web to see other transaltions.

I'm going to stop looking now that I have it...

very nice Jon. My first one hurt like hell but it was a hack job that left a lot of scarring. My second one was a cover job over the first. Great artist was able to dissipate the scar tissue and it looks awesome. It was such a breeze a damn near fell asleep in the chair. I think I'll end up with two more before it's said and done.
