I got my June issue of 4 Wheel Drive & Sport-Utility Magazine, and in the write-up on Tierra Del Sol there's a small pic of Tare's (aka "newps") white 80.

The caption states that he easily handled all obstacles thrown at him that weekend. Well, duh, it's an 80! I suspect that most of the obstacles were heeps littering the trail.

Nice job, Tare, maybe more of us wiil get off our rears and join you next year at TDS. I've taken my Scout in the past, but it would be quite a spectacle to see a group of 80's crawling around Truckhaven Hills.

Incidently, there are quite a few other Toyota references in this issue, including an article on a 4Runner-based rock buggy. I might just renew this subscription.

I was fortuante enough to see Tare in action in Calico back in January. He was the only 80 out there on the trails and needless to say it wasn't much of a challenge for the rig. That is the only rock experience I have seen in my young off road life but I was impressed by the way it made it look easy :bounce: :bounce2: . I can't wait to see part 2 of the build up in my newly subscribed off-roag Mag.

Been there (Truckhaven) with my 80! Had lots of fun with Otis (board name) and his 40.

I have found that 4Wheel Drive & Sport Utility has been doing almost all Heeps lately. I did enjoy the 4runner feature though and they do predominantly focus on real wheeling rigs. If you haven't already checked it out 4Wheel Drive Toyota Owner magazine is good, especially for a start up magazine. Nothing but the good stuff.
You do know there is a build up feature of Tare's rig going on in Off Road magazine, right? This months has part two. Of course I am a magazine addict and currently subscribe to 11 a month. I am going to decrease that though.

I agree we should shoot for a strong SoCal 80's showing at TDS next year. The area has nice challenges for almost all levels but is still friendly to the stock rig too. No rocks or trees at all just eroded dirt.

I just got this months and was very saddened that Tar's rig was not in there. I looked through it twice to no avail....there were 2:eek: H3 write-ups instead...bummer...anyone know why...hint, hint..Tare feel free to chime in.

Scott,

I think you are confusing magazines brother. This months OFF-ROAD (July) is a Toyota Spectacular. Almost entirely Toyota's. Tare's build up part 2 is on page 98 way in the back.

uhoh, i hope i did not subscride to the wrong one:confused: ... The one I received in the mail this week was a June issue....I dunno..pretty sure it says Off Road Mag across the front...I know it is the Primedia publication.

I know one of the big four had H3's recently. Don't remember if it was 4Wheel & Off Road or Off Road. I can't find mine to check for you. Sorry. Magazines always start you with the issue before the current newstand issue to help alleviate back issues. Kind of makes it an 11 for the price of 12 since they already have that one made and sitting around. You should get your July issue soon after. Either way it should be good. It just might not have Tare's 80 in it.

I actually got the July issue yesterday...all is good, i subscribed to the right one....I can't wait to read as it seems to have a ton of yotas in it.

Glad all is well. I figure it has to be good, it says "Spectacular" on the front. :D

Thanks for the props guys. Project 80 really got a workout in Moab this year. It is amusing to see the attention this rig gets. People think nothing of it, then it walks up obstacles that other vehicles struggle on. Primedia puts on a trail run day every year at Easter Jeep Safari, a preferable who’s who of the off-road community. After our run people were quite impressed of its capabilities and Project 80 received many compliments. It basically walked up everything and made obstacles look silly. I feel like I am cheating when I wheeling this thing.

I see Tare and his beautiful 80 every morning on the 55 on my way to work.Really nice truck and great article.

Great to see we have another new member for SoCal 80's. I will keep my eye out for you Simon. Just give me the wave and I will know it's you. Looks like you are starting a little business too. Let me know if I can help with any press releases of new products.

A thousand lashes with a wet trout to those other mags! :grinpimp:

Doing good, the July/August issue just shipped. Killer pics of Yotas (and 80s) at Moab...actually, INSANE pics of 80s at Moab. Plus the Project FZJ80. Biggest ish ever!

Dave, any plans to bring the mag to a monthly circulation? Getting my issue every two months is not doing it for me.
