Price drop to $22,900 negotiable - just bought an FJ60 to restart the process!

Drivers handle interior needs new knob (can use exterior with ½ doors)
Emergency brake indicator light stopped working today! Wiring and switch still present.
The glass edge of windshield has bubbles on it (in safety glass – not metal) – been present since I
purchased 2008 – likely previous owner replaced with cheap aftermarket windshield – but it has some
old stickers so I left it on.
Dime size bubble rust right passenger below tailgate.

GLWS, she's nice.

$30k is the price in the link

Bump - dropped to $25,900. Got my FJ60 already!

just my $0.02, if I'm dropping $20K+ on a car I'd expect some of those minor issues to be addressed first...beautiful FJ, good luck

I just flew in to see this land cruiser. It looks very good as advertised. The paint is very presentable but not sure it is original. I used a magnet and found one area above a tail light that would not stick. No rust issues that I saw. The rear quarters are flared out because it has 16” tires. Someone must have come down hard at some point and the oversized tires bent/flared the rear quarters out. It did not hurt the paint. It started up and I did notice any smoke. No excessive leaks.

What I did not understand in description is why someone would change to 3.73 differentials when that is what a 1981 came with. Upon further inspection the frame number does not match door pillar and firewall. I did not think it was possible to do but only thing I could come up with is someone swapped the body onto this older frame with early differentials. Then the differentials and drive shafts were changed 3.73 to be correct for the year. This is fine but just not for me with a different frame number.

I did not take the time to drive it because I knew I was not buying it.
Not beating it up just not for me.
Hey Wadesters - I'm sorry I didn't get to meet you when you came - I just wanted to reply to some of these comments. I'm a physician with 3 kids, VP of a hospital and have a home that is flooded by Hurricane Helene. First, I am totally shocked that the frame did not match the body. I have owned this vehicle for 16 years and been an active MUD member. I checked the door and firewall when I purchased but I never checked the frame as FJ40s weren't exactly collectible in 2007 so I didn't consider it :). It was a rust free but rough FJ40 when I bought it for $7k and I did all the work because I love the vehicles - not to make money. Pics are on MUD of when I bought it.

That being said, the fender flaring looks to have been done intentionally. The pictures online have several of the flare and are identical on both sides and paint is same as rest of vehicle.

As for diff gearing - I did all the work myself. I changed the gears from 4.11 to 3.7 on the rear to improve the top speed. I had receipts for that and have a book with all my work. I just assumed PO had changed previously converted the 3.7 to 4.11 to improve off-road gearing as MUDers do it all the time. I noted during suspension rebuild the front axle was actually an fj55 axle (which are identical except for sway/spring mounts). I changed it to an FJ40 front axle to keep it consistent across the vehicle.

Very surprised to hear the frame didn't match body and feel stupid I never checked it... FJ40s didn't start becoming collectible until the past 10 years so that would be a hell of a lot of work to swap a frame with a perfectly good body/engine and it drives better than any FJ40 I've been in - and I've been in a lot! I'll check that frame number when I get to vehicle and update the ad if Wadesters is correct.

If anyone else wants to discuss with me my cell is 813.919.5156. I have 2 people looking at vehicle tomorrow. Sorry if you felt I wasted your time.

Did this sell. The consigner isn't listing this truck anymore.

We have a verbal agreement on a sale but it hasn’t gone through yet. I will remove it if it sells. Drop me a line if it’s still on here next week. 813.919.5156. Cliff.

FYI, I did review the frame number vs my VIN on this vehicle and Wadester was correct they don't match. What is interesting is the frame manufacturer date and the VIN date are very close (both 8/1981). I don't have a great explanation for that. I have a hard time believing someone found a frame from the same month as the body and did a transfer - but I guess it is possible!
