National, thought I could spell.

Could some person(s) share information about the Talladega National Forest roads either in the Sylacauga and/or Talladega area?

Planning t spend a day there with 9 and 12 year old grand children to explore roads, streams suitable for wading and fishing and waterfalls. My cruiser is stock and need something fairly easy for the kids to enjoy. Don't think white knuckle trails would be a good idea at this point. Some define easy trails as those where you "almost turned over" or "only needed two others to pull you out". Not looking for those now.

You advice would be invaluable in planning a good day. Have driven through on several occasions and realize the good sites are missed unless you know exactly where to go in advance.

Anyway, many thanks for information you might offer.

We just took a trip out there a few months ago and had a great time. There was a long thread on here about it. I will PM you the route we took. Clarence and Brian may have additional info, we bailed early because my girls were getting tired of riding.

Drive(Wheel) the southern part of the Skyway Motorway, eat at the Old Mill restaurant, then take them panning for gold.

It's not near the area you are wanting to go but the Cahaba wwma near west blockton is a great place to swim....
In the forest there is a place that the locals call the devils den (not sure if that's its official name) near lake chennabee.. park at the lake and hike up the trial about a mile... sky way is fun a lot of good views...

You've given some good ideas. Will most likely just take off and explore. Never know what you'll find.

Thanks.

Planning on going out tomorrow. Any pointers for trails/roads on the talladega side? I've been on most of the calhoun/cleburn roads and trails.

Would you point out a few? You might save me days of looking if you can give me some rights and lefts.

there are some really god places out if you know where to look!

like out of the way country churches? I think he just wants to wheel on Saturday, not Sunday.

Where did that come from?

I just ended up cruising around up there after 281 turns into a dirt road. I went down one that was pretty neat and came out near talladega. I typed the coordinates into google maps and it wasn't correct, but in my gps I saved it where the trail ended and if I select to go there it takes be right back so your milage may vary with these coordinates. N 33°19.698' W085°59.472'

Pretty rocky though, however not in these pics.

Looks like you found the Skyway motorway judging from the pictures.

Here are some of my pictures from last fall
