My mind just got blown!

Super crazy.

Looks like he may have used parts from the rear of a road grater or something similar, and some hydraulics to make the axles pivot like that. Not sure how he hinged them in the middle, then got them to turn too.

I would love to see the build on that one.

Super cool.

I've seen that video before, but never get tired of watching it. It is awsome!!

that rig was built maybe 5-6 yrs ago, and there are a few other rigs kinda like it, but they dont seem to show up in comps. maybe all the levers and stuff make them too complicated and slow for comps? very interesting and fun trail toys though.

No axles. The wheels are on the ends of arms that can be rotated with hydraulics, and they're chain-driven. Kinda like adjustable, 3-foot-tall portal hubs. But only kinda.

Really, what you need is that kind of a setup, but controlled by a computer that has tactile feedback. Then you could just aim it, hit the gas, and climb just sort of...go over everything. Probably easier to engineer than BigDog was (the four-legged walking robot that's really hard to knock over, for those who don't know).

In-friggin-sane!
