we just got back from the outerbanks a few weeks ago...
we kenneled our german shepherd there, but during the day, we'd take him out for some excursions...there are a few dog stores there. One has a "yappy" hour and also a few other social events during the week....great time...
the later in the summer you can go, the better, it won't be quite so hot...
