Hello All,

I want to replace a taillight bulb. I removed the two screws that hold the lens inside the tailgate. But I can't remove the lens sideways. What is next?

Help appreciated.

If you're talking about the bulb in the actual tailgate, you have to remove the carpet trim from the tailgate to access the bulbs. Then you have to remove a metal plate covering the taillight assembly.

If it is the tailight bulb that is not on the tailgate, than your owners manual should show you what screws to remove.

Edit- You don't have to completely remove the carpet trim, just loosen it on the side you're working on with a screwdriver.

there is a pin that is holding it in. it kida presses into the lens(or body, I forget which)

I’m thinking you want to take the side lamp off?
Now that you have the two screws off, just take the palm of you hand and smack the edge of the light. The edge being the part that is exposed next to the tailgate opening, where you removed the two screws. I like to hold the lens with my other hand to prevent it from pivoting on the snap in pins and also to keep it from falling. There are two snap in keepers that hold the lens in place on the fender. When it’s the first time removing it, it’s pretty tight. Basically you want to move the whole lens sideways with the fender, & try to keep it from pivoting or twisting.
Good luck.
