What is the stock/official weight capacity for the tailgate when lowered? Assume resting weight, not kids jumping up and down :)

I've searched around, best I could find are posts on the 80 and 100 series...

I'd assume 2 adults, ~400lbs, is within reason? My 4Runner Trail slide-out rear cargo tray was 350lbs..apples to oranges I know...

Thanks!

What gives are the anchor points the cables connect to. Those bend inward and rearward...which allows the tailgate to drop lower and possibly hit stuff—especially aftermarket bumpers.

It’s a 3/16 or 1/8 swaged cable on regular 8mm bolts.

I’ve had 300lb static on it.

thanks all! Sounds like 400 is a good ballpark.

... I read about using magnets near the cables if they start misaligning on closed gated...

Any particular dos/don'ts?
...Like.. dont drop 400lbs right in the center from the roof..
... xyz maintenance.
...etc etc

thx!

My 6'3" 250lb self and a similar sized friend have had no issues sitting on it.

Same here, but the tailgate itself isn’t the weak point. The weak point is the piece that anchors the cable above the tailgate. As it bends, it allows the tailgate to drop lower and lower til it hits stuff.
