When accelerating at low speeds my HI-LO shifter makes almost a grinding sound, any ideas?

Your center diff lock is not locked the grinding noise comes under normal street driving?
What year is your truck?
When was the last time you change the transmission fluid/filter?

Mine does this, has done it since I bought it used 4 yrs. ago. Slight "rumbling" noise under load at low mphs. I understand this is typical - not a big deal. No complications for me.
There is a difference b/w the T-case whine (on cold-temps) that you have as your subject heading and the low-rumbling/grinding that I believe was your purpose.
