So i filled my t-case last weekend and i checked it yesterday and i have to put in about 3/4 of a quart of oil. I need to do something and i need to do it soon. This is on my 1990 FJ62 and my question is how long does it take to rebuild a t-case and what else should i do while its out of the truck? Do i remove it from the tranny or take out the whole enchilada?

Thanks

Do you need to 'rebuild" t-case ?

Do ya know where leak is ? 3/4 Qt in a week ought to leave quite a signature !

Front & rear output shaft seals can be replaced without 'rebuild'.

Idler shaft has seal on both ends, only rear seal can be replaces w/o rebuild; but be very careful - pull idler shaft out too far & you'll 'rebuild'

How long to rebuild : what do you consider a rebuild & what tools have you. Just seal & gaskets : few hours...2/3 day...
If 'also' doing bearings & races....well...depends on tools you have...good looong day.

Do not need to remove tranny; t-case bolted to tranny from 'inside' t-case.

I have already both the front and rear output seals and i am going to start there. But i think its a gasket that is bad. Everything shifts runs and sounds great so i don't need to replace any bearings or anything...just the gaskets.
