Was there talk at one time about a group buy for synthetic winch line? Did I miss out, or is someone pulling this together?

I might be interested too?????? How much is it normally??? I just bought a 9000XD for my 60 and the cable seems ok, but I think a rope might be nice?? Craig

My research is bringing up a wide range in pricing (retail). Hopefully someone will chime in with real world info on recommended vendors.

I have never organized a "group buy" but would be willing to with a little guideance. (ie - what's the protocol) Do I simply call up a vendor and negotiate a price for a defined order size/qty.

Am I losing my mind, I thought we talked about this at the last meeting

It is possible that you're losing your mind, just take it in stride :D However, I do clearly recall mention of this group buy at the meeting. So maybe it's contagious.

Count me in!

I have gift certificates for Expert Off-Road

Hmmmm...something tells me I should put a call into Expert Off Road and see what kind of deal they can offer us.

my bad im was the one who agreed to set this up. let me know how many feet each of you need. and i will get started after razor.

Rob thinkyou could bring pricing to the picnic? that might be beneficial to everyone.. Then if they're serious they could just pony up then and there and get it done..

Great idea!

Rob - will we get to spec the type of hook we want and length of pretective sleeve?

I was thinking about going this route...

from my hazy recollection I watched Rob thread the hooks etc on the rope at camp.

If this goes thru I can provide the protective sheath based on how many feet you need and in a variety of colors for a minimal cost from a buddy. It is Rock Climbing webbing and I have a buddy that owns a rock gym. (not free but darn cheap)

So I would have to assume that you can order whatever end, etc you want and it can be put on..
One would just need to have it available for assembly. The thimble end on the fixed side of the drum can easily be sourced via a welding supply co or something similar.

i will get the pricing and specs nailed down for ashers. it should be cheeper if every one can agree on one dia. since i just buy the line. which aslo means i can put what ever kind of end on it you want.

Ok got the pricing: we are ordering 3/8 inch amsteel blue the price it 1.59 per ft plus some tax & shipping. I can splice it any way you want for 10$ which includes a standard thimble and winch end. Erik can get protection shething for low cost. The deadline to get in is july 1st. please paypal me a deposit of the cost of the line at chevota21@hotmail.com and pm me or call 816-523-8082 after 11am.
