New 2009, 200 with only 300+ miles on it. I have alway changed the "break in" oil at 1000 miles. Does anyone out there run Mobil 1 or another synthetic oil? I have used M1 for years in all my LC's (except my 40, which I still own and use Rotella) and never had any issues, just looking for input on this new engine.

i plan to run M1 0W20 in mine. Will wait to about 2500 for 1st change to let her break in a bit.

I would do a normal oil/filter change at 3K miles and then again at 8K miles. Then at 13K miles change to Mobil 1 5w30 but to keep the warranty you will need to change it every 5K miles which is a waste for these engines and the Mobil 1 oil.

Just an FYI: The maintenance schedule for the LC200 is every 5K miles, not 3K. Per Toyota, this is adequate and the first 5K oil is break-in oil, which should not be changed prematurely.

I just had my 5K service done with full synthetic. 8 quarts isn't cheap, though!

Once you go synthetic black...

Did not know Toyota was using "breakin" oil in this new 5.7 engine, they have not done this in the 4.7? First I've heard of the breakin oil.

Well I have heard of the break in oil in the past, but I'm not sure if Toyota used it for the 5.7. I was just told not to change it before roughly the 5K mark.

I'm pretty sure they don't want somebody changing the oil during the break-in period before it has a chance to carry away some of the impurities, and then drive with those impurities in the engine for another 5000 miles.
