Well I sold my 80 this past fall and have been looking for something to replace it that gets a little better mileage, 70 mile round trip commute to work. Enter the new to me 2000 4Runner SR5, 4x4, 3.4L, auto. So far I'm pretty pleased, combined average driving puts me at 18.7 mpg. I'd love to say that I'd like to leave it stock, but I'd only be lying to myself. So far it has an OME 881/890 lift and 235/85R16 Yokohama Geolander A/T-S tires. On to the pictures...

I know that 80. Isn't that the poster child for the DC rear bumper? The DC fab link in the sig helps :hillbilly:

Looks like a nice rig. I picked up my 98 for very similar reasons and I have been averaging about 19 mpg. I think you will be happy with it. The 3rd gens are very capable rigs. So does this mean we will see a DC rear for the 3rd gens sometime soon :D

Congrats!! Nice looking T4R. My last one was a 2000 SR5 and except for the overdrive going out at 200,000 miles, it was a good one. My wife has a 2003 4runner and my son has a 2001 Sport. I went with a 2002 Taco double cab but I still miss my old 4Runner. Enjoy!

We'll have to wait and see if DC Fabrication looks to market anything for the 3rd gen 4Runner. The biggest hurdle for that is the distance between my brother and I, roughly 10½ hr drive. There are some great products already on the market for 4Runners. The reason I choose to make something different for the 80 was because there wasn't anything out there that I really liked. If Slee offered a "Tall Bus" version of their front bumper that looked more like a Bull Bar I may have gone with that. Who knows.

Currently my plan is to build more of a expedition rig out of the T4R. Again I'll probably build all the protection and what not for it as travel allows. I've looked at some different front and rear bumper designs but haven't committed myself to anything yet. I personally prefer plate over tube, but I may just use tube with some skins to keep weight down. I don't plan on running a swing out since I'm not looking to run over sized tires. But we all know how that works. It's a slippery slope when you have access to a full shop and a lot of family/friends/discounted parts. If my brother has any input I'll be running a 5-spd with dual cases and dana 60's on 42's.

I wished I lived closer.
