Can someone please tell me an easy place to access the wiring for the backup alarm beeper on a HZJ77. I want to put a switch in the wiring so I can turn the alarm off and on when needed.
I'm hoping there is an easy wiring access point forward in the vehicle where I can wire in a switch on the dash.
I've done some searching and found "tips" on disabling the alarm by cutting the wire at the beeper, etc. but nothing on a switch, course I could have missed it - seems like a common enough problem / idea.
Thanks, Rick

Just cut one of the wires, extend those ones to where ever you want the switch.
Connect in the switch.

Thanks, I know how to install a switch.
I should have provided some more details, I guess.
From what I can tell the beeper at the back of the truck and the one in the cab are wired separately, When I disconnect the one in the cab, the other keeps beeping. So, what I'm after is the color and location of the wire that activates both beepers. I figure there is a wire from the trans (auto) up into the interior wiring harness, that then splits and goes to the two beepers. I'm after that wire - the color and location?
Hope this makes some kind of sense.

Ahh I see. Without a wiring diagram its going to be hard.
Only other suggestion is to disconnect the reverse switch at the transmission, the one for the reverse light and see if that stops your beeping.
Then interrupt that wire with a switch, only down side is no reverse lights.
Also there might be a micro switch on the gear selector.
Its going to be a trial and error thing.

Thanks, I've checked the wiring diagrams I can find - no backup alarm shown.
My hunch is that the rear beeper is wired into the backup lights harness, as you suggest.
Can anyone confirm this, and where the harness connection is?
Disconnecting / switching the beeper in the cab is pretty straight forward, the rear one is the puzzle.

Any other tips on wire codes or locations?
Thanks

If anyone else is puzzling about this.
The wire colors for the back beeper are: red / pink and green (at least on my rig)
They are spliced into the backup lights curcuit on the RH side of the vehicle near the taillights.
Easy to pop off one of the splice clips and wire in a switch.

I think you have answered your own question.
You have two systems installed.
Factory beeper under the dash and aftermarket one wired into you reverse lights.
Double throw switch, extend wires from each.

Yep, I was just providing the results in case someone else wanted to do this.
