i know you used to have one... is that what you didn't want said? :flipoff2:

Thanks for posting the link. I have been debating getting a Kestrel for my survey work, but this thing looks pretty amazing and much better than a crappy Kestrel. I just ordered one, wish I didn't have to wait until Aug (if we are lucky) to get it.

From the GPS stand point alone it is worth the money if you are looking for a GPS, add in the weather sensor the solar charger and the wifi along with the other features and you have a pretty cool toy.

Considering that my current GPS is 15 years old and doesn't have maps I am looking for a GPS:D. Now like you said hopefully we have it in August

I wish these had come out last year when I spent $400 on a new Garmin. Oh well, at least I have a backup.

Ctenosaurian, Have you had any communication from the Meet Earl team?

I have been following the updates and some of their forum but I haven't received any sort of direct communication since my initial order. Just wondering if it has been the norm for everybody.

The only communication that I have received directly have been a few updates that were the same as the updates on the website. I am sure you have seen the last one, I guess they are hoping to start manufacturing in April. I expected this to take a lot longer than they said it would, so I am not worried, yet.

I'm not worried. I figured going in that we would be lucky to see it by Christmas of 2014. I am a little concerned that I haven't received any sort of direct communication besides the order confirmation.

I'm trying "Back Country Navigator" on the Android...

Hopefully this thing will be as capable as it was advertised, I guess I will find out when it gets here. Did you order the higher resolution maps or did you just go with the base maps? I splurged for the higher res maps.

I just went with the base maps, only because they were offering the upgraded maps for the same price ($50) as an upgrade later. I will be sad if they raise that price because I'm pretty sure I want the 24K maps.

I guess we will see whenever they arrive (if they arrive)....

Howdy! A bunch of us in the Phoenix area are running Panasonic ToughBooks 18/19 for our GPS needs. Old enough to be inexpensive, and mil spec built, so pretty solid. Best of all the screen is big enough to see with tri-focals while you are driving. John
