My car is acting up again. :ban:

in the mornings when i start it to warm it up and on the road.

if i give it gas or choke it when it gets to 1500rpms it starts to surge up to 2000rpms then drops to 1500.

and when cruisin down the road if i dont give it enough gas it does it wich causes a lurching action.

im thinking it may have something to with the fast idle??

any ideas????

Kyle

I had something similar happen this afternoon. I was accellerating up to 55mph and at about 40-45 it started bucking on me. Freaked me out. Didn't happen to me the rest of the day (knock on wood)

I've also noticed that lately when I warm it up with the choke on, after a bit the idle will drop and rise. Odd.

Sorry no help here.

My own troubles with bucking, surging, lurching were related to the accelerator pump either squirting erratically or not at all. Run a search string with these keywords, you'll see it's covered often here and is solved after ruling out a number of other things (like vac leaks, for one)...HTH

is there ant way to replace or fix the acc. pump??

You can change accel. pump easily.
Almost carb rebuild kit include accel. pump.
Remove air cleaner canister and remove 7 bolt then you can disassemble air-horn assy.(top portion of carburetor) then you can access to accel. pump.
But I want to recommand entire carburetor rebuilding then only changing accel. pump.

i should add that the cruiser idles perfect at start and when sitting at a stop lught. it just acts up once it gets up to 1500rpms

mne did that. my carb gasket/insulator was leaky. and i mean leaky like air was getting in not gas leaking out

i hope mine is the gasket
