I picked up this winch, because it was sirt cheap, used, but never actually hooked up. My question is would it be worth mounting it to the rear of my 60 If I use a snatch block, thats 7000lbs of pull, just might be enough to get me home or pull an elk up a hill. what about using it on one of those plates that goes over the trailer ball. Waste of time or good idea..

Boooooooiiiiiiinnnnngggg!

pop goes the cable if you are even slightly hung up... and make sure you are well clear of the flying cable whipping around your head and are wearing your safety glasses.

that one MIGHT be alright for a small to medium ATV. too small for a cruiser even with a larger cable IMHO.

If you're dead set, and can honestly be disciplined enough to not overload the winch, then why not?
I wouldn't run it for several reasons, but since like most of us, you're gonna end up using it:
Better check into a replacement tailgate/glass to keep around and handy.....;)

the thing is with most winches, youre supposed to run them intermittantly so you dont overheat and burnout the motor. in theory this little winch will work properly with enough pulleys but it might take you three hours to get yourself 20 feet. also sometimes the bigger winchs get stuck bad enough that they need a snatch block which means you might need even more pulleys. i have seen guys who run these little winches on subarus and swear by them, apparently they'll go where a stock chev z71 will or better. but i think in the long run youll be happier with an 8000 or 9000 lb. winch. just go wheeling with friends with rigs until you have a couple more bucks. and then when you do get one youll hate spooling it in all the time and end up using tow straps as much as possible. meanwhile get your self some pulleys tow straps tree savers shackles etc. until you got a couple more bucks. also having different lenghts of straps and cables helps avoid long spool in time and when youre far from a tow point, youll also learn to avoid mudholes that are a long way from trees, most of us learn the hard way. just my opinion hope it helps.
