Superficial cracks on timing belt?

I'm in the middle of this right now. The belt broke while driving.

It looks like an aftermarket belt from what I can see so far, and from what I've read, I don't think that there is damage to the engine.

I ordered the aisin kit with new tensioner, pullys, and water pump. Price was just over $200. I can't imagine someone changing out the water pump and not doing the timing belt if it was even close to time.

That being said, the job is not hard. Almost all 12 and 14 mm bolts. Most are easy to get to except 2 for the fan bracket. Those are still not that bad with a swivel and extensions. It is time consuming. With Christmas in the middle, I've had to work when I can. Probably around 5 hours to take everything off. I'm thinking a little faster to put it all together when the parts come in.

FWIW, my belt looked fine. Yours would make me nervous but I'd probably wait until I had tools and space as long as it wasn't too long. Chances are, if it does break, you'll just be doing the job sooner than you want, although you'd have a tow bill.
