Hi guys

I own an lc70 swb 2011 4.0 petrol engine vvti. It has ome lift kit and running 33 bf goodrich tires.

The engine has got a k&n filter with a throttle body spacer afe.

But now i want to take it bit further i want to supercharge the baby plus put jba headers ceramic coated and then get it tuned unichip and exceed heavy clutch.

I use the car for desert crossing and on the trips we play around who can climb the highest sand dune .

The Q is what would i need to change for the car to take that extra power would there be anything to be replaced with the gearbox or even the ring and anything in the diffs?

Thanks for that. But anyone got any info in English plz ?

I would get a good clutch and leave it at that. I would focus more on what breaks components in regard to the drivers skill (or lack of)
Tyre deflation is the single biggest thing you can do to help a 4wd get over dunes, but living near dunes, you probably know that.:D

Wasn't asking for ur advice on how too drive on sand . Looking for advice on what other mods i would need to do if i do end up charging it . Thanks though already have a mate with just an exceed clutch still couldn't climb a dune from a stand still.YouTube - Broadcast Yourself.. Check this out this friends silverado climbing a dune in the empty quarter a trip we did last week

Why don't you just turbo charge the 4.0?

.....and I make no excuses I am jealous of your new lc70. We have to make do with 20yr old + models and rejuvenate them with slightly younger parts in way of used half cuts and models from Japan.

If your mate is burning Exedy clutches, then the load on the gearbox is too great.
The only way to climb a big dune ,is with a big run up,or a smaller lighter vehicle.
The 70 series is just to heavy to be a champion dune climber, and to my knowledge, there a no special dune climbing gearboxes or diffs to replace the ones you have.

Another piece of advice about driving in sand,it generates extremely small pieces of silica dust and that K&N filter piece of crap is letting it into your engine and destroying it.

Never said he was burning his clutch . Anyway thanks for that tip about the filter your the second person who's told me aproxmetly the same thing . Do u have any advise on what i can replace it with?

Another Q i have is if i remone the catalet converters that are attached just after the manifold would i get better performance or is this just an old folks tail ?

After a but of consideration i think I'm just going to put a new manifold and chip on the baby fir the mean while .
All advise much appreciated guys

Ive yet to see the factory filter bested. A mechanic told me it gets good results on the dyno.
But if you going to supercharge it may not handle the extra breathing.
Try Donaldson Filtration, their tech folks will tell you whats best.Somewhere on their site they hjave a filter calculator but you would need to factor in the blower somehow.

New vehicles run better with their emmisions equipment attached than older engines.
You really need to do a before and after dyno run.
I believe their are performance cat converters out there, but no experience with them.

Wow that thing could move I'm surprised at how rapid it was off the line even while towing 3 tone trailer .

Yeah i thought that would be the case with the cat converters thanks a bunch mate .

So about this raptor supercharger 1st time for me to hear about them I've only really ever heard of the Trd charger know a few guys with it on the fj out hear no complaints apart from one guy saying u have to get the belt tightened every 5000kms I'm not to sure about that it doesn't sound right .

See we don't get much Australian products out hear mostly the market was catered for the jeeps but now ppl have started playing around with the fj and among the 1st to do something with a 70 series . And i have to admit buying stuff for Toyota are pretty expensive compared to jeeps and plus finding stuff is harder.

Do u guys know of any other manifolds apart from jba cuz if i do fit them they will be from an fj model just have to fabricate my exhaust a bit.
