Weird question. Just recently I was inspecting the sunroof drains (clear) and noticed an imprint of where a sunroof visor once was. It's an 01 LC. I bought it about a year ago and I'm pretty sure it was't there when I bought it. Then I started 2nd guessing myself because I sometimes have memory issues. But, I'm pretty sure it wasn't there. What is the down side of NOT having one? Does it protect anything on the sunroof really? I see 100's all the time without them I think but yesterday I saw one WITH one.

PS Bonus Question (20pts)-Could a phantom hum at above 75mph into a headwind be caused by the visor not being on anymore? I know that's stupid question but that's my specialty.

Thank you!

My 2000 LC had the sunroof visor which I removed. The only benefit I can see is some wind deflection for a quieter ride when the sunroof is open. If part of your sunroof gasket is worn or damaged, then the sunroof visor may have been deflecting the wind around that area. Now that the sunroof visor is gone, the wind may cause a hum or whistle in an area of damaged or worn sunroof gasket.

Those old visors were more useful on earlier vehicles before they started adding that little spoiler that pops up in the front. That spoiler performs the same purpose for air deflection and noise reduction as a visor would, so a visor isn't really needed.
