I test drove a 100 for the first time today. Quite nice compared to my 200k 80 I must say. I opened the sunroof just to see if it worked and I heard this crazy noise, turned out to be the headliner bouncing from the air rushing in. Are these supposed to have a deflector like my 80 ? is this just a poor design? Or does no one else have this problem in a 100?

When open it is noisy, but I've not experienced the headliner buffeting you're talking about. I'm sure a deflector will reduce noise substantially....it can't get much worse than it is.

Mine does that, but not to the degree you described. I would not reccommend having the sunroof open at 70+ mph. I have knocked out the pins that hold the headliner up by driving on the highway w/ the sunroof open. They are located basically above the second row of seats. The cruiser you drove is probably missing those also. I think they are just a couple of bucks to replace.

At least it is not just this one, considering buying it. I am surprised that there is not a built in deflector like the 80. I assume on of those stick on deflectors would work, but I don't love how they look.

calamari, yours does not do it all at any speed? I just seems the air is directed right into the gap making the cover and or headliner go crazy, I guess one flaw in the LC's design is not too bad compared to every other vehicle on the planet.

There is a built in deflector in the 100, it raises when you open the sunroof. as someone mentioned before, it is still noisy at speed. Check another one to see if the one you're looking at is missing it.

Well I bought the truck! And after further inspection, it does have the deflector, but it has a series of rectangular holes unlike my 80, and it seemed fine this time. There must have been some reason for the holes? so the deflector stays up rather than be forced down by the wind?

I've had this happen with every yota with a sunroof I've ever owned to some degree :D With the 4runners I'd crack the back window, camry's i'd crack the rear side windows and with the 100 I open the rear quarter windows. Helps the air flow a good bit better and smoother.
